Mike Orford was selected as the new Sting Black ECNL Director, the club announced today.
“Mike’s promotion reflects years of exceptional commitment, leadership, and service to Sting SC,” Sting North Texas Director of Coaching Tom Blencoe said. “Throughout his time within the organization, Mike has consistently demonstrated an unwavering dedication to player development, competitive excellence, and the core values that define our club. His deep understanding of the game, strong leadership presence, and ability to mentor both players and coaches make him uniquely deserving of this role.”
The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) remains the premier youth soccer platform in the United States, recognized for its commitment to high-level competition, holistic player development, and pathways to collegiate and professional opportunities. Competing in ECNL represents the highest standards of performance, preparation, and professionalism, and our ECNL Black program continues to embody those expectations.
Since joining Sting in April of 2023, Orford has earned the respect of athletes, families, and staff through his professionalism, passion for the game, and tireless investment in building positive environments where players can grow both on and off the field. His vision aligns perfectly with Sting’s long-standing mission to develop confident, technically sound, and character-driven athletes.
“Throughout my years of experience working at the highest levels of youth soccer I’ve had the privilege of seeing what truly impactful player development environments look like, and that perspective makes me even more excited to support Mike in this role,” Sting Executive Director of Soccer Kenneth Medina said. “Orford has a unique ability to communicate clear messages to Sting athletes while building and maintaining strong relationships and pathways within the National Training Centers and the professional game, all while staying committed to helping our players achieve their goals at the level.”
As a long-standing ECNL member, Sting has long been considered as one of the most respected youth soccer organizations in the country, with a tradition of national success, player advancement, and a culture centered on excellence, integrity, and community. The club’s history is built on passionate leadership and collaborative teamwork, and Orford’s appointment continues that legacy.
“Working alongside Tomas Boyle, Jordan Lomax, and our outstanding staff of coaches, I’m incredibly excited about the future of the ECNL Black program,” Medina continued. “This group shares a deep commitment to excellence, innovation, and creating an environment where every player within the Sting pathway is challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.”
